JAMMU, Apr 7: A new Hindi play ‘Dur Aur Pass’ written by Vishnu Prabhakar and directed by Neeraj Kant was presented here today in Natrang’s Weekly Theatre Series ‘Sunday Theatre’. Built on a very emotional plot, the play was successful in evoking the emotional sensations of the relationships which are experienced by most of the families today.
The play showcased the story of an elderly person who has separated from his younger brother on the provocation of his wife. He is not earning much from his shop but on the contrary, his brother (Ramesh) is doing well with his share. Though separated, Ramesh still has regards for the blood relation and now and then offers financial assistance, which was usually denied by the elderly couple as the contempt to their self esteem. But one day, the couple was in dire need of money as the carrier of their only son was at stake, rejected from everywhere, they sought the help of Ramesh, they offer to mortgage their shop to him, with a view that even if they are not able to get it back, it will remain in the family itself. Being a person who values relationship, Ramesh denies to take the shop, instead he gives them finance without taking anything from them. This act was an eye-opener for all those who because of their own whims make the relationships bitter. The play ends with a positive note and teaches us a very clear lesson to value relations more than the materialistic things.
Uplaksh Singh Kotwal as ‘Elder Brother’, Sajra Qadir as ‘Bhabi’, Ashwani Bali as ‘Younger Brother’ and Susheel Raina as ‘Lala’ all young artists of Natrang performed their respective roles with professional flair.  Lights were operated by Neeraj Kant and Music was scored by Ankush Lakhnotra. Sets were erected by Mohd. Yaseen, the show was anchored and coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.
