Natrang celebrates 35th foundation day, presents “Dhaniya”

JAMMU, May 15: Natrang celebrated its 35th Foundation day today with the presentation of a well designed performance of Sarveshwar Dayal Saxena’s Hindi play ‘Dhaniya’ at its Studio Theatre.
In its 34 eventful years, Natrang through the selfless contribution of thousands of its associates, brought the J&K theatre to the National and International limelight and its highly acclaimed plays vibrated the theatre world and proudly travelled the whole length and breadth of the country and also crossed the boundaries of India as well and won appreciation in Russia, Germany, U.K., Singapore, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, and UAE and thus established a globally acknowledged brand called NATRANG.  This organization has been highly instrumental in giving a new cultural and intellectual identity to this part of the country and revolutionized the cultural life of the place through its out of the world initiatives.
Natrang was established on 15th May, 1983 with the presentation of two unique short plays Neeli Jheel’ and ‘Nanhen Kandhey Pair’ directed by Balwant Thakur at Abhinav Theatre Jammu.
Today’s play ‘Dhaniya’ which portrayed the story of an out-rightly righteous lady who had courage to speak against the evils of the society was directed by Neeraj Kant and the actors who gave a wonderful performance in the play included Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Vrinda Sharma, Bhisham Gupta, Aman Kapoor, Akshit Kaul and Abhi Bargotra. The music of the play was rendered by Mahikshit Singh and Neeraj Kant did the lights. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma and Mohd Yaseen.
