Nationwide Sanitation Campaign ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ concludes

JAMMU, Oct 2: Nationwide Sanitation Campaign “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign launched on September 15 across the State concluded today.
Swachh Bharat Divas and Yoga Day were celebrated by Bhartiya Yog Sansthan at Gol Gujaral. Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in PMO was the chief guest and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma was the guest of honour, while Sat Sharma, MLA Jammu West presided over the function. Thousands of Yog Sadhaks from different part Jammu took part in Yog Sadhana. Satya Paul Sharma Pardhan Bhartiya Yog Sansthan Jammu was also present. A toilet complex was also inaugurated by Dr Jitendra Singh in presence of BJP State President and MLA Sat Sharma, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLC Vikram Randhawa. This toilet complex is being constructed under constituency Development fund being provided by Sat Sharma Jammu West. Among others present were Prof Ashok Aima Vice Chancellor CUJ and Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandhari Divisional Commissioner Jammu.

A Walkathon was organized by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to mark the conclusion of the fortnightly “Swacchta Hi Sewa” campaign and third anniversary of “Swacch Bharat Mission”. The Walkathon was flagged off from Town Hall building by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Speaker J&K legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, and Minister of State for Education, Tourism and Culture, Priya Sethi, in presence of MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta and senior civil and police officers, civil society members and prominent political leaders. They also joined the Walkathon with scores of school children, NCC cadets, JMC officials, Civic workers, besides representatives of voluntary organizations, which culminated at the site of wall paintings created by local students at Asia Chowk.
A cleanliness drive was organized in the Satwari, in which Forest Minister Choudhary Lal Singh, State General Secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul, State Secretary Ghulam Ali Khatana and other senior leaders participated. Bhupinder Singh coordinated the programme.
To conclude the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign, a programme was today organized by Department of Floriculture at Bagh-e-Bahu. Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest and Minister of State, Floriculture Gardens & Park, Priya Sethi was the guest of honour on the occasion. On this occasion, foundation stone of two toilet blocks were laid by the Speaker in presence of Priya Sethi at Bagh-e-Bahu Garden. 25 gardeners from Jammu division were also felicitated at the event.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary attended a programme organised on the concluding function of nationwide sanitation campaign ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ at Institution of Engineers here. PHE Department organized various events under the campaign. Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi was also present. Later, the dignitaries felicitated the winners of roller skating competition organized by the Department under the sanitation campaign.
For encouraging the objectives of “Swachhta Hi Sewa”‘ drive, bike rallies were organised from all the blocks of Samba district, which was flagged off by MLA Samba Dr Devinder Manyal. During the campaign, various activities were taken up in the. A human chain, flagging off awareness vehicle, besides symposium and painting competitions were also organised.
A programme was organized at town hall Doda regarding “Swachhta Hi Sewa”. MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar, Deputy Commissioner Doda Bhawani Rakwal, ACD Doda Akhter Hussain Qazi, DPO Doda Rishi Kumar Sharma and others officers of different department were present on the occasion. Students from far flung schools of the District participated in the event. The winners were also awarded.
BJP Mahila Morcha State Unit conducted a programme on cleanliness drive in the Sarwal Hospital, Jammu which was organized by Veenu Khanna, State General Secretary Mahila Morcha. BJP State President and MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma was the chief guest, while State Prabhari Mahila Morcha, Suresh Jamwal and District President Ayodhya Gupta were also present. Superintendent of Government Hospital Sarwal Renu Khajuria was also present.
On the occasion of completion of 3 years of Swaach Bharat Abhiyan, BJP Leh organized a cleaning campaign. The cleaning Abhiyan was organized under the leadership of Tsewang Gonbo, District President BJP Leh. CEC Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, Rajendar Singh Chib, President State Kissan Morcha and many others were present on the occasion. The cleaning campaign was also participated by the inhabitants of Skya-ngos Goksum, Stalam and Stago-philok including sweepers of NAC Leh.

Nationwide Sanitation Campaign ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ launched by the DDC Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai in entire district concluded. During the campaign, the district administration and all the departments conducted various events. Similar campaigns were also held at Gool, Rajghar, Ukhral, Khari, Batote and banihal tehsils and various Naibats of Banihal.
Various activities were carried out by the District Information Centre Kathua to spread the message of cleanliness and hygiene in and around our surroundings. A cleanliness drive was launched in and around the office premises to make it clean and litter-free zone. A unique initiative was also undertaken during the plantation campaign in which each official of DIC adopted a planted sapling to look after them on a regular basis. The cultural wing of the information department organized number of programs.
Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign concluded today at sports stadium Poonch where, ADDC Poonch, Abdul Hamid was the chief guest. On the occasion prizes were distributed among students who were adjudged best in painting, essay writing, symposium and quiz competitions.
District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana chaired the concluding programme of “Swacchta Hi Sewa” campaign in Kishtwar. The programme was also attended by SSP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdary, CEO KDA Pawan Parihar, Inderjeet Parihar PO IWMP, DPO Sunil Bhutiyal, DSWO Phulail Singh, DYSSO DC Thakur, other District and Sectorial officers, students, etc. Different activities were held during the programme.
The fortnight campaign “Swachhta hi Sewa” concluded today at New Town Hall, Udhampur. DDC Udhampur Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest. Block Chenani of the district was adjudged the cleanest block of the district while Ward Number 4, Udhampur was given first prize under the Cleanest Ward category. Similarly, AWC Balmiki Mohalla, CHC Chenani and Government Higher Secondary School were felicitated under the Cleanest AWC, Cleanest Health Centre and Cleanest Education institution categories respectively. Various cultural programmes were also presented by the students.
Under “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign, a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organised at Bal Asharam by District President BJYM Akash Chopra and his team on the direction of BJYM State President Dr Suresh Ajay Magotra. The programme was held in the presence of District president BJP Brijesh Rana, District general secretary BJP Ahuty Sharma and State incharge of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” Sunny Sangotra. On the occasion, BJYM team also distributed soaps among the children. The Convener of this Abhiyan was Rinku Choudhary.
Venerating Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of cleanliness as a virtue, The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu celebrated Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas with the presentation of a short play ‘Safai Hum Karenge’ at Priyadarshni Hostel Premises. The play has been brilliantly written and directed by Sumeet Sharma and was witnessed by a sizeable gathering which included Dean Students Welfare, Prof Satnam Kour, Provost Girls Hostels, Prof Versha Mehta, Resident Warden of the Hostel, Dr Sarita Sood, Drama Instructor, Sumeet Sharma and hostel boarders. Those who acted in the play included Sanyam Pandoh, Puneet Kour, Hemant Magotra, Tushar Chopra, Rajat Salgotra, Sameena Kousar and Pratibha Heer. The event was coordinated by Dr Sarita Sood and Sumeet Sharma.
Students of Department of Architecture and Landscape Design have taken an initiative for cleaning the areas near slums in SMVD University today. NSS at SMVDU joined hand with this cleanliness drive organised under ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign. The event was held under the supervision of Sumanta S Sharma Faculty Coordinator, NSS. Vice Chancellor, Dr Sanjeev Jain has appealed to all the members of SMVD University to make cleanliness, health and hygiene a part of daily life.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited observed “Swachhta Hi Sewa” Pakhwada from September 15 to October 2 in its all offices falling under Northern Region Transmission System-II. As a part of this pakhwada, Power Grid carried out a cleanliness drive in the areas adjoining its office complex “Grid Bhawan” near Bahu Plaza Jammu. The cleanliness drive was led by the Executive Director Power Grid Northern Region-II HK Mallick. Employees of Power Grid posted at Jammu and members of Shrishti Mahila Samiti led by its patron Sangeet Mallick participated enthusiastically in this drive. Later Hygiene kits were also distributed by the members of Shrishti Mahila Samiti among the poor and needy in the slum areas near Channi. Dust bins were also distributed by HK Mallick to the street vendors in the Bahu Plaza area.
‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Pakhwara, organized at Salal Power Station under the leadership of Himanshu Shekhar, General Manager, Salal Power Station concluded today. Rakesh Kumar Goyal, Chief Engineer (Civil) was the chief guest who inaugurated the programme in presence of Ajay Shrivas, Chief Engineer (Electrical), senior officers from NHPC Limited, ladies from NHPC family and school children. Earlier, Dr PL Sharma presented details about the programmes organised during ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Pakhwara. BB Kalyan was also present. Prizes were distributed among the winners of various competitions.
As part of the “Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign, an awareness and cleanliness drive were organized by Reasi based Uniform Force HQs at Talwara. The local populace and army jointly cleared garbage from in and around the Talwara market and Talwara bridge besides some roads, lanes by lanes were also cleared.
Under ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign a cleanliness drive was launched by the J&K Dharmarth Trust at various temples and shrines in and outside the Jammu city. It may be recalled that the President of the Trust BR Kundal has constituted various committees in main temples and shrines. The cleanliness drive was launched by the Trust at Purmandal Utter bheni, Ranbireshwer Temple, Shree Raghunath Temple, Sanskrit library, Raghunath Pathshalla and Hari Bhawan complexes today. The cleanliness drive was launched under the supervision of Secretary Dharmarth Trust Ajay Singh Jamwal.
Sulabh International Social Service Organisation J&K organised valedictory function of “Swachhta Hi Sewa” Pakhwara. Anil Kumar Singh Controller Sulabh International Social Service Organization J&K,  Dr Zaffar Iqbal, Expert SLRM, Jammu, Dr Ajay Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor CUJ, Dr Pankaj Mehta Assistant Professor CUJ and Opinder Sharma, SR NYCS were present on the occasion.
A fortnight long cleanliness drive was organised by the Army along with locals joined hands in making Kashmir a cleaner and greener place. Series of events encouraged the people to undertake cleanliness of their localities. School children participated with zeal and without any inhibitions to clean their school and children parks. Polythene free drive was also launched. The concluding event at Gulmarg was preceded by a number of events. The orphans of Rahat Ghar, Tangmarg which not only cleaned a children park in Gulmarg but also participated in the awareness run held at Gulmarg. The event was presided over by Major General RP Kalita General Officer Commanding of the Dagger Division who felicitated all the participants in presence of Mohammad Abbas Wani, MLA Tangmarg and other senior officers of civil administration and security forces. Dustbins and display boards were presented to the Market Committee of Gulmarg.
“Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign launched by 38 Battalion CRPF stationed at Smailpur District Samba concluded today. During the campaign, various programmes were organised. Besides cleaning and sanitation of Battalion and Coy locations, the unit carried out a cleanliness drive during the campaign in different areas of Jammu city.
With regard to ongoing sanitation campaign, cleanliness drive was held at DPO Reasi, DPL Reasi, Police Stations, Police Posts and at all other Police establishments.
An awareness rally was conducted by the students and NCC cadets of Government Degree College Samba under “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign. The campaign was organized under the supervision of Principal Prof GS Rakwal and other faculty members including NCC caretaker Prof Ayaz Ahmed. The awareness rally started from College premises and concluded at Samba Chowk.
Cleanliness drive under Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign was conducted by Government High School Mir in Panchari Tehsil Udhampur District.
Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School Udhampur participated in the cleanliness drive. After the morning assembly, the students and Scouts and Guides started cleaning their classes and various areas of the school campus and their surrounding city. Principal of the school Renu Sharma was also present.
Fortnight long programme “Swachhta Hi Sewa” culminated in Government Middle School Kharoti, Zone Pouni District Reasi with the addressing of the Incharge of the school, Sat Paul Puri. In the morning assembly, the students presented their views. Nek Ram Sharma gave special tips to the students regarding cleanliness.
Ek Sath Rang Mandal presented awareness nukkad “Swachhta” under its Monday theatre series in Slum area near Paloura Link Road Janipur. All the members apprised the slum dwellers about Swaach Bharat Abhiyan. Romesh Chander, President Unison Cultural Troupe was the chief guest. The actors who acted in the play were Raju Mad, Ashok Sharma, Vipin Magotra, Shiv Kumar, Dheeraj Sharma, Mohit and Vijay Malla. The nukkad was written and directed by Vijay Malla.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign in Reasi district. The campaign was organised under the guidance of Associate Director Extension (ADE) and Incharge of KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr RK Arora. The drive was organised under the supervision of Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr Banarsi Lal at KVK campus. KVK scientist along with the local people cleaned the premises of Seela Shiv Temple and Trintha Shiv Temple.
The nationwide sanitation campaign ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ concluded today in various areas of Kashmir. The campaign saw a large-scale mobilization of people from all walks of life in the Kashmir region, which carried the campaign to Government offices, public and tourist places etc. to realize the objective of cleanliness and hygiene. Many programmes were held today to mark the successful conclusion of the sanitation drive.
In Shopian, awards for best essays, winners of quiz competition, paintings were presented to Swachhta champions from across the district. Shabir Ahmad Ganaie of Shopian, who received State award for his documentary film “Swach Sankalp Se Swach Siddhi” at SKICC Srinagar, was felicitated by DDC Mohammad Aijaz. Students of various Government and Private schools in the district who fared well in the events were awarded by the DDC.
In Pulwama, a quiz competition organized by Municipal Committee in collaboration with district administration in which Deputy Commissioner; Ghulam Mohammad Dar was the chief guest. Hundreds of children from different schools participated in the quiz competition.
In Kulgam, a seminar was held today in the premises of Mini Secretariat in which Member Legislative Assembly; Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami was the chief guest. DDC Kulgam, Talat Parvez Rohella was also present on the occasion. Departments, which performed well during the campaign, were awarded certificates and mementoes. ADDC Khwaja Nazir, ADC Parvez Ahmad Raina and ACR Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah were also awarded for coordinating the efforts of various Departments.
In Anantnag, a function was held today at Government Degree College (Boys) regarding the sanitation drive in which DDC Mohammad Younis Malik was the chief guest. The programme was organized by the Rural Development Department in collaboration with Education Department and Municipal Council Anantnag. Various functions including essay competition, debates, painting competitions were held in which students from various schools of the district participated. The top position holders were awarded medals and certificates.
To mark the culmination of the “Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign, a function was held at Baramulla, wherein DDC Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash as the chief guest. A rally, which was flagged off by the DDC, passed through various areas of the district and carried the message on the importance of cleanliness. Officers of district administration, students, 53 CRPF Battalion, volunteers and others participated in it.
In Bandipora, cleanliness drives across the district were carried out and cleaning mops were given to various Government institutions to mark the conclusion of fortnight sanitation campaign “Swachhta Hi Sewa”. The sanitation drive was carried under the designated Officers of the concerned Departments. DDC Sajad Hussain and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Khursheed Ahmad Sanai monitored the progress of the cleanliness drive in the district.
As a part of nationwide sanitation drive “Swachhta Hi Sewa”, all the Police Stations, Police Posts, District Police Offices, Range Police Headquarters, Zonal Police Headquarters, Police Control Rooms and other police establishments of the J&K Police including Armed, Home Guards Security, CID, Police Public Schools, Police Housing Colonies, Police Hospitals were cleaned under the supervisions of their respective heads. Besides police establishments, Police Public Schools of Jammu, Srinagar and other districts, Police Housing Colonies of Jammu and Srinagar as well as of other districts, Police Hospitals and Police Departmental Stores were cleaned.
In South Kashmir, DIG, South Kashmir Range led its staff and cleaned all police establishment, while in Central Kashmir Range, the drive was started under the supervision of DIG, Central Kashmir Range, who led its staff and cleaned all police establishment.
In North Kashmir Range, the drive was started by IGP North Kashmir Range, Baramulla, who led its officers and official and cleaned at all police establishments, whereas in Police Control Room, Kashmir and in Police Control Room, Jammu the campaign was started by both SSPs respectively.
In Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, the campaign was launched by DIG JSK Range at RPHQ Jammu, who led by its officers and officials of the Jammu Range cleaned at all police establishments and also helped the civil authorities in this nationwide campaign.
In Udhampur-Reasi Range, the campaign was launched by DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range at RPHQ Udhampur, who led by its officers and officials cleaned all the police establishments, whereas in Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, the campaign was launched by DIG DKR Range at RPHQ Batote, who led by its officers and officials cleaned all the police establishments.
In Rajouri-Poonch Range, the campaign was started by DIG RP Range who led by its officers and officials took active part in the nationwide campaign and cleaned all the police establishments.
The drive continued on all the days in all Armed and IR Headquarters, Battalions, Coys., Armed Police Complex, Zewan Srinagar, Channi Himmat, Jammu, all Police Training Schools at Jammu and Srinagar, SKPA Udhampur, Security Headquarter, CID Headquarter, Railways Headquarter, Traffic Headquarter, Telecommunication wing of J&K Police and Home Guard/Civil Defence Headquarter and their subordinate offices. The parts of the world famous Dal Lake, Bahu-Fort, Railway Stations and Bus Stands have been cleaned during this nationwide campaign by the Police Department.
