JAMMU, Sept 28: BVP Swami Vivekananda Branch Gandhi Nagar, Jammu held National Group Song Competition at Arya Samaj Mandir, Shastri Nagar, here today.
Nine schools of the area participated in the event. Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.
The students performed songs in Hindi and Sanskrit to highlight the cultural heritage of the country. They were all in colourful attires.
Three judges adjudged the performance. Speaking on the occasion, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly said such variety of programmes of cultural importance have very vital role in raising the cultural values of the state and country at large.
Regional Secretaries Dev Raj, Arun Sharma and Dr Santosh Gupta gave a brief description of the activities of the Bhartiya Vikas Parishad on the occasion.
The President of the branch, Vijay Sharma spoke about various ongoing projects undertaken by the branch.
Vaid Sahib, Patron of the branch, GD Gupta, Chief Advisor, Lala Mukund Lal and Ameeta were present on the occasion.
SP Khajuria presented the vote of thanks.
Vijay Lakshmi, Prof Suman Pal and Prof Devinder Kour were the adjudicators of the event.
SD Tara Puri High School, Model Academy Nanak Nagar and Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nahgar claimed 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
