Naresh performs solo concerts at Detroit, Chicago

JAMMU, Dec 12: Renowned guitar and flute player and singer from Jammu, Naresh Sharma has earned the credit of being ambassador of the Dogri music and culture of the region as he performed at the solo concerts organized by some NRIs from Jammu at Detroit and Chicago, recently.
Naresh has come back from an 18-day tour of the two US cities and has given a few performances there which include Dogri songs, Pahari and Dogri music on flute and guitar besides his famous and all-time-favourites, Kishore Kumar numbers, at private concerts held there.
The show at Chicago was organized by a Jammu based NRI, Sunil Suri, who works at a very senior position in Bank of America. The highlights of the two-hour show included flute and vocal performances in Dogri by Naresh in the first part and Kishore Kumar numbers in the second.
He also performed at a concert organized for him at Detroit city of Michigan state which was organized by two Jammu based doctors—Sanjay Dogra and Jyoti Sahni, residing there.
The event at Chicago was not merely about Dogri music and dance performances but the guests and audience were seen dressed in Dogri outfits. The Dogri cuisine was also served on the occasion which also include ‘Ghyoor’ prepared by American cooks following the recipe shared by Naresh’s wife, Renu Sharma.
The Dogri songs presented at the concerts include: Meo Meow Kare Mera Billa, Mere Ikude Garbar Hui Balo, Mithri e Dogrea Di Boli and Chambe Dhakiya Chardi Jo.
Naresh’s performances also attracted two radio channels at Chicago and New Jersey, which aired his interviews for the local listeners there.
