Narcotics trafficker arrested with 10 kgs bhukki

JAMMU, Dec 5: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a narcotics trafficker along with ten kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki).
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka and signaled a scooty bearing registration number JK02AX-2666 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the rider.
The arrested person has been identified as Sartaj Singh alias Taza, son of Balwant Singh, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Digiana, District Jammu.
During further questioning, the accused revealed that he had brought the consignment from Srinagar for selling among the youth in Jammu and surrounding areas to make them drug arrested. With his arrest, police thwarted the nefarious designs of the arrested drug peddler and saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 92/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammed Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
