Narayana Hospital organizes medical camp

JAMMU, Sept 9: To extend services to the patients suffering from hearing loss, congenital deafness and other ENT problems, SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital today organized a mega health camp at Bahu Plaza.
The camp, which was organized in association with Samriti Speech and Hearing Clinic, Bahu Plaza, was inaugurated by K B Jandial, former Member of J&K Public Service Commi-ssion and president, J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, in the presence of Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer (SMVDNSH) and Dr Rohan Gupta, Consultant ENT at SMVDNSH.
While speaking on the occasion, K B Jandial hoped that Shrine Board and Narayana Hospital will organize more such camps in Jammu and surrounding areas in coming days to provide expert consultation to the patients from poor background.
Dr Harjai specified that the cochlear implant (also called a “bionic ear”) bypasses the damaged hair cells of the inner ear (cochlea) to provide sound signals to the brain and improves sensorineural hearing loss. He also briefed the achievements of the hospital in last 2.5 years.
He informed that the Shrine Board has provided free choclear Implant surgery to nine children in last four months and today they all can listen and speak as well. Dr Harjai also stated that the hospital will continue to organize series of such camps in other areas also, starting from October this year till March 2019.
The camp was attended by more than 250 patients from Jammu and surrounding areas. They were provided free consultation by Dr Rohan Gupta.
