Naidu invites Romaninan businesses to invest in India

BUCHAREST, Sept 20:
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday addressed business leaders in Romania and urged them to take advantage of the economic reforms in India by making investments.
Naidu, who is visiting the southeastern European country on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of India-Romania diplomatic relations, said that bilateral trade between India and Romania stands at USD 810 million.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a tweet: “Bilateral trade between India and Romania stands at USD 810 million! Vice President @MVenkaiahNaidu addressed Prahova Chamber of Commerce in Bucharest and urged them to take advantage of economic reforms transforming India”.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prahova is a non-governmental organization of public use, self-financed, having as fundamental purpose the development of Prahova County’s economy and its promotion both on the domestic markets and overseas.
India and Romania appreciated the bilateral economic cooperation and expressed desire to increase bilateral trade which stands at USD 810 million to higher levels in the coming years, according to the official statement by the vice president’s secretariat.
Both the sides welcomed the growing popularity of Yoga in Romania. Given the increasing interest in Ayurveda in Romania, the vice president inaugurated the AYUSH Information Cell and unveiled a Book on Ayurveda, it said
They expressed commitment for resumption of negotiations for conclusion of an early and balanced India-EU Broad based Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA), especially in the context of Romania’s upcoming Presidency of EU Council from January 2019, it said. The two countries affirmed the need for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations, including its Security Council, the statement said.
In this context, Romania President Klaus Werner Iohannis and Prime Minister Viorica Dancila reaffirmed Romania’s endorsement of India’s aspirations to become a Permanent member of the UN Security Council, it said, adding that both the sides expressed satisfaction regarding mutual support for each other’s candidatures for international organisations. Naidu arrived in Romania on Tuesday on the last leg of his three-nation visit to boost India’s ties with the southeastern European country. He will be in Romania from September 18 to September 20.
