Naeem, Priya flag off exposure visit of students to ISRO

JAMMU, Jan 16: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar along with Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi flagged off exposure visit of 45 high performing students of the State to the Space Application Centre (SAC) at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyaan (RAA) component of Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyaan (RMSA).
Naeem Akhtar had interaction with each student and kindled their desire for knowledge and achieve high performance in their lives.
Many of the students also expressed their desire to see their schools gain in terms of infrastructure such as smart-classrooms which have become very popular among the students due to their usage as knowledge centres in the schools covered under ICT@School scheme under RMSA.
Priya Sethi also interacted with the students and complemented the RMSA team for selecting the meritorious students from each district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Out of the 45 students, 24 students hailed from Kashmir Division with participation from both Kargil and Leh, and the rest hailed from Jammu Division.
Under the scheme, about 2500 students of the State are being sent by the RMSA, J&K to various cities of the country for visits to institutions of excellence and places of prominence.
Saugat Biswas, State Project Director, RMSA/SSA, J&K informed that the idea behind the scheme is to foster scientific temper, as well as expose the students to the various career options available to them across the country.
While visiting such institutes such as ISRO, IITs and IIMs, the students will also be taken to places of historical importance for better understanding of the cultural heritage of the country.
“We are tying up with various institutions outside the State as well as within the State for the tours”, he said, adding that this tour has been organised with support from the inspire team of SMVDU, Katra led by Dr Sunil Wancho.
During the tour, the students will also visit the IIM Ahmedabad, the National Institute of Design and Gandhi Ashram, Biswas informed.
