Naeem inspects highway upgradation work, expresses concern over delay at certain points

SRINAGAR, July 24: Minister for Public  Works Naeem Akhtar has expressed concern on the slow pace of work on certain sections of the under construction four-lane Qazigund-Srinagar sector of Srinagar-Jammu highway.
The Minister urged the concerned authorities to expedite the work on the highway. He directed the officials to ensure that the highway along with bypasses is completed by September end this year.
During his visit to various sites of the National Highway, the Minister stressed upon the concerned agency to employ additional men and machinery and speed up the pace of work especially on bridges at Wanpoh and Sur-Srundo in order to meet the deadline.
The Minister said that it has been already announced that the prestigious Srinagar-Qazigund four lane highway will be thrown open for traffic by the September this year. The highway once commissioned will help millions of people move to and fro in minimal time. He said it will usher new era of development and prosperity in the entire region.
The Minister was accompanied by SE R&B South Circle, Executive Engineers of Khannabal & Qazigund R&B Divisions and officers of the executing agency RAMKY.
