Naeem inspects development projects

KATHUA, Nov 23:  Minister for Public works, Naeem Akhtar today inspected pace of work on Engineering College, Keeriyan Gandyal Bridge and various link road projects here today.
He also visited proposed site for Government Medical College campus.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Kathua Rajeev Jasrotia, Chief Engineer PWD Sudhir Shah, Chief Engineer PMGSY SP Manhas, ADC Rishpal Singh Superintendent Engineer PWD Des Raj, Superintendent Engineer JKPCC Javed Iqbal and other district officers.
The Minister inspected Government Engineering College building coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 24.50 crore and being executed by JKPCC. It was apprised that the work of administrative block and workshop is in full swing and will be completed before the set deadline of March 2018. The Minister exhorted upon the executing agency to ensure time bound completion and adhere to the quality norms.
Naeem Akhtar also visited Keerian Gandyal and took first hand appraisal of the progress on the 1210 meters 28 span bridge, the work on which is being executed by PWD at an estimated cost of Rs 106.67 crore.  He was informed that 14 peers of the bridge have been completed and work on remaining was in full swing.  The PWD Minister called upon the executing agency to start work on the approach road without delay to benefit local populace.
During his visit to the Medical College site, the Minister directed XEn to start the work on Rs 2.7 crore approach road to Medical College site from national highway at the earliest.
The PWD Minister also inspected progress on Barwal, Logate-Sahar, Janglote link roads.
The Minister reiterated Government’s commitment to improve connectivity scenario, especially to foster socio-economic development in villages and remote areas. He said better roads will discourage migration to urban areas and open avenues for growth and development in every part of the state.
