JAMMU, Feb 14: Mohalla Welfare Committee (MWC), Bakshi Nagar, Jammu paid rich tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Raj Guru and Shaheed Sukh Dev at Bhagat Singh Chowk, Bakshi Nagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Karandeep Singh, general secretary of the committee said, “Most of us celebrates February 14 as Valentine Day, but forgets that in the morning of that day in Lahore, freedom fighters, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev were hanged to their deaths.
He expressed concern that how our young generation is being attracted towards western culture and forgetting the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. “Let us pass this message to everyone to salute and pay respect to sacrifices of our freedom fighters. Let us be an Indian first…. boycott celebration of Valentine Day and motivate youth to come forward and do something for nation”, he added.
Meanwhile, members of Mohalla Welfare Committee washed the statue of Bhagat Singh and offered flowers. On the occasion, Lucky Aastik, Lithesh, Ashish, Shubham, Nishant, Lovely, Sonu Puneet, Manik, Shubham, Gourav, Lucky, Dipanshu, Manpreet and Rohit were also present.
