Mufti assures PDP delegates to hold Ministers accountable

JAMMU, May 15: Describing the party workers as an effective tool to maintain checks and balances on the Government, the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed today said that he would hold Ministers accountable in achieving the goals of providing succour to the common masses.
“My Ministers will not confine themselves to cosy rooms but reach out to the people in far-flung and remote areas,” he said while interacting with senior PDP leaders of Jammu Division, here today.
Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, Syed Altaf Bukhari, MLCs, Yuvraj Vikramaditya and Surinder Chaudhary, former MLC M R Qureshi, general secretary, Daman Bhasin, Ved Mahajan and others attended the meeting.
Asserting that the real power rests with the people who have elected their representatives with great hope and expectations, the Chief Minister said that his Government will guarantee that they bear the fruits of a fair and transparent administration. “The party will emerge stronger if it remains connected with the people on the ground for which an effective feedback mechanism will be soon put in place,” he added.
Referring to the coming together of the two coalition partners and the time taken in framing of Agenda of the Alliance, Mufti Sayeed said the two parties have joined hands to respect the people’s mandate which is overwhelmingly in favour of the coalition. He said the Government has taken several steps to bring about holistic development of Jammu Division. “We have been in power only for little over two months. We don’t have to rush through but take decisions patiently so that people who are the real stakeholders are taken on board,” he said, while discussing measures to strengthen the party.
Asking delegates to strengthen the party by highlighting developmental and social issues concerning the people in all the three regions of the State, the Chief Minister said the present Government will ensure that the Common Minimum Programme agreed upon by the coalition partners is implemented on ground and State put firmly on the path of progress and development, he added.
Calling upon party workers to become ears and eyes of the Government, Mufti Sayeed highlighted several initiatives taken for development of Jammu region. “We will promote Jammu as an independent tourist destination. We are working to improve road connectivity and kick-start several developmental projects so that people feel a tangible change,” he stated.
Amongst others, Rangil Singh, T S Bajwa, Shanti Devi, Bharat Chaudhary, Jatinder Bhat, Hamid Chaudhary, Rashid Malik, Ch Hussain Ali Wafa, Amrik Singh Reen, Ashiq Hussain, Flail Singh, Ashok Jogi, Rajinder Manhas, Deepak Handa, Roop Lal Sharma, Madan Agarwal, Tarun Singla, Dinesh Gupta, R K Bali and Mohan Chaudhary, were present on the occasion.
