Mountaineering Asso to conduct Sport Climbing coaching camp for girls

JAMMU, Jan 20: In order to prepare the State women team for the first competition to be held at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu on February 24, 2019 in a series of North Zone Women Sport Climbing Competitions to be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Indian Mountaineering Foundation, North Zone Committee, New Delhi Mountaineering Association of J&K, will conduct 15 days coaching camp in Sport Climbing exclusively for girls.
The camp will commence from Tuesday, January 22 at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab under the technical supervision of Shilpa Charak, a national sport climber.
Initially, the camp will be held every day for only two hours from 3 pm to 5pm but the duration will be extended in case the number of trainees increases.
The purpose of the coaching camp is also to promote sport climbing, an Olympic discipline, among J&K girls in general and to strengthen the J&K women team in particular for the forthcoming national and international competitions in which the Association plans to depute a number of competent climbers. Such camps shall be conducted every month.
Those climbers who perform well during the coaching camp may also be deputed for a national level sport climbing competition to be held at St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi from February 8 to 10, 2019 and for further specialized coaching at International standard climbing walls at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the national body for adventure sports in the country.
Registration fee for the 15 days coaching camp is Rs 200 only.
