Motorcyclist killed in road mishap

JAMMU, Feb 8: A young motorcyclist was killed today in a road mishap in Nagrota area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, an 18-year-old boy identified as Mohd Amzad, son of Mohd Yakeen, resident of Jagti (Nagrota), sustained serious injuries this afternoon when a bike he was riding, was hit by a rashly driven unknown vehicle at Khanpur near Rajan Bar.
“The blood ridden boy was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, the spokesman said, adding, after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
He said that a case in this connection was registered at police station Nagrota and investigations taken up.
Meanwhile, he said, a pedestrian namely Sonia (20) daughter of Mansa Ram Khajuria, resident of Chak Jaggar (Nagbani, Jammu), was hit and injured by a speeding scooty at Patta Bohri. “Punicahak police had taken cognizance of the matter”, he added.
