Motorcyclist dies, pillion rider injured in road mishap

UDHAMPUR, Oct 1: A motorcyclist died while his pillion rider sustained critical injuries when their bike skidded off the road on the National Highway near Mand, here today.
The deceased has been identified as Raman Kumar (30), son of Ram Paul of Seen Brahmana, Udhampur. The injured, namely Harpaul Singh (31), son of Param Singh of  Seen Brahmana, has been shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition.
According to the reports, the accident took place when the Motorcycle, bearing   registration number JK14B-9932, skidded off the road. Locals took the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared Raman Kumar as brought died and referred Harpaul Singh to GMC Jammu.
Meanwhile, a middle aged man committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence here late last night.
The deceased was identified as Flel Singh (41) son of Anand Lal of Laddha in district Udhampur. The family members noticed him in serious condition and vomiting repeatedly. They rushed him to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors washed his stomach. However, he did not respond to the treatment and died in the wee hours.
Cause behind the extreme step could not be ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
