UDHAMPUR, Dec 4: Under mysterious circumstances, a middle aged woman committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance while shocked over seeing his mother dying, her 23-old son also ended his life by hanging self.
The bizarre incident took place this afternoon at village Sunal, under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station.
According to the police reports, Shakti Devi (47), wife of Madan Lal of village Sunal consumed some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at her house. Seeing his mother dying, 23-year old son of the woman, namely Rahul Kumar called the neighbours who rushed to the site. While the neighbours were trying to save the woman, her son locked himself in other room and ended his life by hanging self with ceiling fan hook.
When Police reached the spot, both mother and son had died, informed SHO Udhampur, Inspector Sanjeev Gupta. Other family members, including husband of the woman and their two other sons, had gone to some marriage function, he added.
Later dead bodies of mother and her son were shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for postmortem and other legal formalities. Cause of provocation behind the whole incident could not be ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
