More organizations celebrate Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 17: Reports regarding celebrations of 67th Independence Day from more areas of Jammu region are pouring in.
Provincial Electric Employees Union (PEEU) held a grand function at Hiranagar in Kathua district on the Independence Day. The function was chaired by provincial president of the Association, P C Sharma while SE EM&RE, Circle Kathua, A K Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.  Mr Gupta accompanied by Mr Sharma hoisted the National Flag. The function was attended by Executive Engineer STD IIIrd Kathua, K K Thappa and Executive Engineer M&RE, Division, Kathua, Karam Chand. It was organized by unit president, PEEU, Hardarshan Singh.
On the occasion Mr Gupta and Sharma highlighted the significance of Independence Day and paid rich tributes to freedom fighters.
Jammu and Kashmir Human Rights Watch (JKHRW) held an impressive function at its provincial office Poonch to celebrate the Independence Day on August 15.
On the occasion, provincial president of the organization Mohammed Rafiq Thakkar hoisted the National Flag. The students sung the National Anthem and sweets were distributed among the gathering. Mr Thakkar congratulated the Army, Police and people in general on the day.
Morning Walkers Association celebrated the 67th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety. The Association hoisted the National Flag at PHE Ground Manda near here. President of the Association, Kuldeep Sharma led the other members in unfurling the National Flag. The prominent among those who were present included general secretary of the Association, H L Bajaal and its cashier Ashok Kumar Dogra.
The Independence Day was also celebrated by NITL School Udhampur with pomp and show. The function was inaugurated by the chairperson of Managing Committee, Mrs Chander Mukhi and the National Flag was hoisted by the Principal of the School Ajay Gupta.
The speakers on the occasion paid rich tributes to freedom fighters.
A grand function was organized by Tawi Welfare Association in Apna Van in village Sure in Tawi Island. The president of the Society on the occasion hoisted the National Flag. On the occasion a solemn pledge was taken by the members of the Society to remain loyal and faithful to the Nation. Sweets were also distributed among participants.
The 67th Independence Day function was celebrated with traditional fervour and patriotism in the holy town Katra at Government Higher Secondary School here today.
The Additional Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra, Mandeep K Bhandari unfurled the tricolour and took salute at an impressive march past by contingents drawn from CRPF, JKP, NCC boys and girls, scouts and various schools of the town.’
Speaking on the occasion, Bhandari recalled the great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and sacrifices made by other leaders in securing freedom. While complimenting the people, he threw light on the achievements made by the country since 1947 in various sectors.
The students of Government Higher Secondary School Katra presented Sarswati Vandana.
Bhandari distributed mementoes to all the participant schools in the march past.
Among others Deputy Chief Executive Officers, SMVDSB, B Mohan Dass, Rashpaul Singh and Pankaj Sharma, Commandant 6Bn CRPF, Sunil Kumar, Addl SP Katra, Pawan Parihar, Principal GHSS Katra, Tripta Bhardwaj, prominent citizens of the town mainly includes President Hotel & Restaurant Association, Sham Lal Kesar, President Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Vice President Hotel & Restaurant Association, Rakesh Wazir, officers from different departments, teachers, school children, pilgrims in large number, locals, despite inclement weather witnessed the function.
The PHE Employees Association, Udhampur, celebrated 67th Independence Day of the country at a function held at PHE Station Barrian,near here with full fervour and enthusiasm.
The National Flag was hoisted by Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Udhampur, Shesh Kumar Sharma in the presence of Executive Engineers of Civil and Mechanical Divisions of PHE Udhampur. The function was held under the chairmanship of Som Nath, Association president. School children sang National Anthem and sweets were distributed among the participants. All the office bearers of the association were also present.
On the occasion of Independence Day, a function was held in the office of Associated Chamber of Traders Federation (ACTF) at New Rehari where Yash Paul Gupta, President ACTF hoisted the National Flag.
Mr. Gupta exhorted the gathering to display unity among all the ranks of the society and maintain communal harmony to usher an era of peace and prosperity in the country as well as our state.
Neeraj Anand, Kewal Mahajan, Raghubir Gupta, Subash Verma, Keerti Gupta, Balwinder Singh, Pandit Nekram Sharma, Vinay Gupta, Vipan Gupta, Vinod Mahajan, Om Parkash Mahajan and S K Verma were present on the occasion.
