SRINAGAR, Apr 17: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kashmir to campaign for his party candidates for the ongoing Parliamentary elections.
“Modi visited almost every place in India for election campaign of candidates and we will ensure he (Modi) will visit Kashmir very soon,” BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma said.
Kishore said Modi will follow the footsteps of former BJP Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the welfare of people here.
“BJP will build better relations with its neighbouring countries for the overall development of the sub-continent. Modi in one of his speeches insisted that friends can be changed but not neighbours,” he said.
Jugal said BJP would form Government at Center and was hopeful people here will support BJP for the betterment of Kashmir.
BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma faced sitting Congress MP, Madan Lal Sharma and PDP’s Yashpaul Sharma in the Jammu constituency and is expected to be front runner in the fray.
Launching direct attack on National Conference (NC), Congress and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for exploiting sentiments of people, Kishore said these parties have deceived people from last many elections.
“BJP wanted debate on Article 370 with the people of Kashmir and wanted to know whether it was beneficial or harmful for the development here, but NC and Congress misled people here on the issue.”
Speaking on the occasion, senior BJP leader Ramesh Arora said the political situation in the Kashmir was not conducive due to bad governance of NC, which has given birth to “political militancy”.
Meanwhile, Bashir Ahmad Reshi, who had filed nomination papers few days back as an independent candidate from Srinagar joined BJP.
