‘Cong not getting candidates to field in elections’

JAMMU, Oct 9: Maintaining that Pandits are the first stakeholders on Kashmir, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that it is the only Narendra Modi Government which has the capacity and capability to address the aspirations and expectations of the community.
Addressing the Pt Prem Nath Bhat Amateur journalists award function at KP Sabha here this afternoon, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Kashmiriyat was murdered by those who forced exodus of Pandits in 1989 -90. He assured the gathering that whatever decision is taken by Narendra Modi Government will be in favour of the community. He said concrete planning will be made on the return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits to Valley keeping their aspirations and expectations in view.
He said as the Article 370 was abrogated by Narendra Modi Government and every thing happened beyond the imaginations of the people likewise a decision on KPs rehabilitation will be taken keeping their aspirations and expectations in view and this decision will also be beyond the imagination of the people.
Dr Jitendra Singh said Modi Government goes by conviction and clarity and it has never taken decisions keeping the vote bank in considerations. “The decisions of this Government are always in the larger national interests and above of vote bank considerations”, he added.
Maintaining that Modi Government and BJP is indebted to martyrs’, he said Pt Prem Nath Bhat is also one among those martyrs who laid down their lives for larger national interests during last three decades of turmoil.
He recalled that how some people during the initial days of migration instead of showing solidarity with community at a seminar here at that time had said that they have come for getting plots in Jammu “but I objected this saying that it only knows the wearer where the shoe pinches”.
Dr Jitendra Singh made it clear that BJP is committed to its ideology and there will be no deviation in the same. He also asked KP community members to remain cautious against the malicious propaganda of some vested interests who are trying to mislead the community that nothing was done by this Government.
“Those who say so should be made to understand that abrogation of Article 35-A was a great development especially for the community whose daughters are married outside State. They as per the earlier law would otherwise be deprived of their ancestral property in the State. But with the abrogation of this Article their rights on their ancestral property have been restored”, he added.
He said earlier people were challenging us to show guts and abrogate Article 370 “but we did it and we have courage and guts to take such actions in future also which no political party dared to do in last 70 years. The first 100 days achievements’ of Narendra Modi Government in second term in office is more than that of 100 years achievements”, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said BJP fought Kashmiri Pandits battle at that time when others remained mum and no political party except the BJP can address their issues.
Maintaining that situation in J&K will change for good after October 31 when the State will attain the UT status, Dr Jitendra Singh said people in outside Kashmir are enjoying the abrogation of Article 370 and are now keen to visit Jammu and Kashmir. People of Cochin in Kerala State celebrated the abrogation of Article 370 with much fanfare. Same was done in other parts of the country, he added.
While lambasting the Congress party, he said the party now does not find the candidates to field in elections because it opposed the Article 370 abrogation. The candidates openly tell the party leadership that they will contest the elections only when they will be allowed to support abrogation of Article 370. This has made the position of the party awkward, he added.
He said that Congress wanted to go to court on abrogation of 370 “but I told them in unequivocal terms that they can’t get relief in court too as entire exercise for abrogation of the controversial articles was done in a foolproof manner”. He said as the nomenclature of Sadar-e-Riyasat was changed to Governor during the rule of GM Sadiq, same was done this time.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that BJP has given sacrifice since Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee’s time. Refuting charges about the incarceration of Kashmiri leaders, he said they get all facilities during their house arrest. The first type of worst example of incarceration was made of Dr Mookherjee who was kept in confinement for 45 days in Srinagar, he added.
Earlier both KB Jandiyal former Commissioner/Secretary J and K Government and a renowned writer and V K Kashkari a writer in community paper Naad and a well known social activist were presented Pt Prem Nath Bhat Amateur Journalist Award for year 2019 by Dr Jitendra Singh and chairman of the Trust Shiban Khaibri.

But the authorities at that time failed to take cognizance of the same that brought State to present situation, he added.
