Srinagar, May 26: Opposition Congress today said the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to fulfill the promises it made before general elections to the people of country.
Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chauhan said here today during a press conference that three years have passed since Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over the reins of the country after sweeping Lok Sabha polls of 2014.
“Modi had made several promises before elections. He had shown dreams to children and women of the country. He had promised to bring back black money within 100 days. Based on these promises, the public of the country made BJP victorious with full majority. But it has proved otherwise now,” Chauhan said.
He said even as Congress lost elections but it were hoping that the BJP which has had full mandate of people would fulfill its promises. “Those promises and present situation in country define where we are right now,” Chauhan said and slammed PM Modi-led Government at Centre.
Replying to a question with regard to award to Major Gogoi, the Congress leader said their central leadership has made party’s position clear on the matter but added that an enquiry ordered by Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir against the Army major is still incomplete. “There is contradiction. It was done in hurry,” Chauhan said, adding that on several issues, the PDP and BJP alliance partners have two opposite stands.
