JAMMU, Mar 8: Bi-yearly mock emergency response drill was conducted at petroleum old depot of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, located behind Jammu Tawi Railway Station.
The depot is a vital installation which supplies petroleum products to civil, industrial and defence consumers across the J&K. This depot is fully automated facility equipped with latest technology for depot operations as well as emergency response.
The depot organized a biyearly mock drill as per their Emergency Response Management Plan with the help of fire tender, local administration and OMC’s IOCL and BPCL.
A mock scenario of flash fire, pool fire and finally tank on fire was created. Fire combat team of the installation initially handled the situation and later the Fire and Emergency Department, Gandhi Nagar rushed to the installation along with their expert manpower to handle the situation and also guide the depot personnel.
In the post drill meeting, the Location Incharge AA Gilani briefed all the participants and observers regarding the facilities available with the depot and also highlighted the expertise and training the depot manpower has in handling such emergencies.
