JAMMU, Mar 3: BJP MLC, G L Raina undertook an extensive tour of Jagti township, along with officials of Engineering Department of Relief Organisation to inspect the on-going repair works in the residential quarters being undertaken by the Government.
MLC also visited Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) which has been made functional and is to be inaugurated formally very soon. Raina also visited Jagti Government Hospital to study the working of hospital and have first-hand information of changes made on decided premises.
Raina said even after spending huge amount of money the Sewage Treatment Plant was not functional and created severe problems for the residents of the township. Making STP functional was taken as a priority and the same has been completed in record time. Once fully functional, it will ease out the problems of overflowing drains and sewerage pits in the Jagti township, he added.
MLC also visited Water Treatment Plant amidst reports of poor quality of drinking water supplied to Jagti township. Raina checked different parts of water treatment plant and appreciated the decision of Relief Commissioner to install an in-house water testing laboratory. It will go a long way in having a regular watch on the quality of drinking water provided to the people of Jagti . MLC also visited several blocks of buildings where the repair work is in progress. He pointed out the visible deficiencies in the on-going work to officials. MLC also met the large number of people and listened their concerns, complaints and grievances. He instructed authorities to ensure that all these complaints and grievances are addressed appropriately on urgency basis.
