JAMMU, Jan 24: The Opposition National Conference and Congress today regretted behaviour of some of their MLAs in the Legislative Assembly yesterday during which they had targeted Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmad Gurezi for not giving them time to speak on the grants of Works Ministry.
National Conference MLA and former Minister Mian Altaf and two Congress legislators-Ghulam Mohammad Saroori and Aijaz Ahmad Khan said the remarks passed by some of the MLAs of their parties yesterday were regrettable and added that they have full respect for the Chair.
“Whatever one of the MLAs said, I apologize and want remarks to be removed from record of the House,” Saroori said.
Mian Altaf and Aijaz Khan also regretted the remarks and urged the Speaker to remove them from the records. They said the Chair is supreme and “we must maintain its decorum and sanctity”.
Earlier, Gurezi said whatever the consequences he would never tolerate indiscipline by the members.
He regretted that when grants of the Ministers are passed, some members remarked: “Pappu Pass Ho Gaya”.
“What type of remarks these are”? he asked.
“I will never tolerate indiscipline and unparliamentary language. I will sit below but can’t tolerate such language. I hope even my Speaker won’t tolerate this,” Gurezi said.
