MLAs demand enhancement in honorarium of Anganwadi workers, clearance of pending scholarships

JAMMU, Jan 18: Several members today took part in the discussion on Demand for Grants of Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs Departments in Legislative Assembly.
Initiating the discussion, Yawar Ahmad Mir appreciated the Social Welfare Department for implementing various welfare schemes and creating awareness among the masses about the same. He said there is scope for streamlining various schemes to increase their reach to cover maximum number of beneficiaries.
Mohammad Akbar Lone called for easing the mechanism for differently challenged people to acquire the necessary certificates. He said concrete measures are needed to maintain proper vigilance on NGOs functioning in the state besides there being a need to enhance the salary of Anganwadi workers. He advocated for the making post-matric scholarships online to avoid intervention of intermediaries.
Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal demanded for increasing cover of areas with higher schedule caste population under the model village initiative for their socio-economic development. He advocated for early release of pending old age pension and for sanctioning of new cases for the same. He also demanded for implementation of National Welfare Schemes besides filling various vacant posts in his constituency.
Ajaz Ahmed Khan demanded for release of adequate funds for development of tribal community. He suggested that pension holders should be provided ATM cards to avail benefits of various welfare schemes.
Bashir Ahmed Dar said there is need for introducing innovative ideas to ensure that public welfare schemes reach maximum beneficiaries. He demanded early release for pending old age pension and proper supervision over the food being provided in Anganwadi centers.
Abdul Rahim Rather advocated for enhancing salaries of Anganwadi workers and Helpers and said that the Government should also focus on orphan welfare programmes. He demanded for establishment of social welfare office in his constituency.
Er Abdul Rashid pleaded for improving the functioning of ICDS centers in the State. He demanded for distribution of reservation quota as per the population and separate reservation quota for disabled people.
Ishfaq Jabbar Sheikh demanded for increasing the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and for improving the functioning of state rehabilitation centers. He said that Women Development Corporation should improve its functioning and focus on backward community as well.
Jewan Lal demanded for linking of Anganwadi centers with primary schools to keep proper check on their functioning. He asked the department for conducting a re-survey of Marriage Assistance Scheme to ensure its proper implementation. He also advocated for early release of funds for pending old age pension cases and enhancing the honorarium of Anganwadi workers.
Asgar Ali Karbalie said that there is a need for ensuring proper supervision to protect the rights of Tribal Communities. He demanded for implementation of Laadli Beti Scheme in his constituency besides demanding for early clearance of pending pre-matric scholarship and filling of various vacant posts in his constituency.
Abdul Majid Padder demanded for proper implementation of various public welfare schemes and for improving functioning of Anganwadi centers and filling up of various vacant posts in his constituency.
Shamima Firdous pleaded for providing compensation to the victims of various tragedies and for early release of pending old age pension cases. She also demanded for improving functioning of domestic violence cell and establishment of family court.
Dr Gagan Bhagat demanded for a re-survey in Marriage Assistance Scheme and for improving the infrastructure of Nari Niketan at RS Pura.
Choudhary Mohammad Akram pleaded for early release of funds for widow and old age pension cases. He said that the department should take concrete measures for welfare of the people of Tribal Community. He demanded for construction of new shelter sheds for Tribal Community.
Anjum Fazili said that Government should take focused steps for women empowerment and demanded for proper monitoring of Anganwadi centers. She urged the government to pay special attention on welfare schemes for disabled children and establish physiotherapy centers and schools for them. She also demanded for establishment of drug de-addiction centers in the State.
Rajeev Sharma said that department should increase the number of skill development courses for women and youth and organize awareness camps to reach of development schemes to maximum beneficiaries. He pleaded for re-survey in Marriage Assistance Scheme and registration of old age homes in his constituency. He demanded for a Model Village for Tribal population and introduction of Scooty Scheme for his constituency.
Pawan Kumar Gupta also demanded for introduction of Scooty Scheme besides proper implementation of various public welfare schemes in his constituency. He said that bio-metric attendance procedure should be implemented on ICDS centers for proper monitoring. He also demanded for early release of pending funds for old age pension cases.
Abdul Majid Larmi demanded for updating the list of existing areas given backward area status so that the benefits launched for such areas development reach the deserving population.
GM Saroori demanded for introducing the modern village initiative in his constituency. He also demanded for making Gujjar-Bakarwal mobile schools functional and asked for allocating funds for road connectivity in tribal areas. He urged for early clearance of pending funds for old age pension cases and a specialist doctor to identify deaf and dumb people so that they could avail benefits from welfare schemes.
Shah Mohammad Tantray said that that there should be proper supervision on nutrition being provided in the Anganwadi centers under ICDS scheme being implemented by the department. He also demanded for special status to be provided to Pahari people in his constituency.
Dina Nath Bhagat demanded for early clearance of pending old age pension cases. He said that there should be proper supervision on nutrition and sanitation of Anganwadi centers. He demanded for proper implementation of various public welfare schemes in his constituency so that the maximum beneficiaries are benefited.
Javed Ahmad Rana said that there should not be pick and chose policy in allotting model villages. He pleaded for relocating the existing Anganwadi centers in his constituency as per demands of the local population to increase convenience to the people and ensure maximum coverage.
