JAMMU, Apr 14: Asgar Ali Karbalai, Member of Legislative Assembly, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Mr. Karbalai briefed the Governor about various educational problems faced by the students of Kargil, particularly those who were seeking admissions to post-graduate courses.
The Governor asked Mr. Karbalai to carry forward the developmental works in his constituency for the welfare of the people of Kargil and assured that the educational difficulties faced by the youth of Kargil would receive due attention.
Sushobha Barve, Executive Director, Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation (CDR) also called on Governor and briefed him about the inter-community dialogues being conducted by the Centre in Jammu and Kashmir for building mutual inter community trust through continuing talks, dialogue and discussions.
Ms. Barve also informed the Governor about their ‘Youth Leadership Programme’ which was launched to engage youth of conflict affected areas of the State and inculcate leadership qualities in them for overcoming the challenges to peace and stability in the region.
She also spoke about the Centre’s peace building programmes in which policy experts, academics, former military officials, diplomats, senior journalists and other intellectuals from India and Pakistan discuss various issues between both the countries.
Complementing Ms. Barve for her ongoing endeavours, the Governor urged her to initiate suitable programmes for orienting youth to play a vital role in building the future of the state.
Roma Wani, Former Honorary General Secretary, J&K State Branch of Indian Red Cross Society also called on Governor.
The Governor lauded the extremely important role played by the Indian Red Cross Society in J&K and wished Ms. Wani good health, happiness and success in all her future endeavors.
Ms. Wani, a former KAS Officer, closely associated with various missionary activities in Jammu and Kashmir has exhibited notable capacity for voluntary work.
