MLA, FC APD, IVF delegation call on Govenor

JAMMU, Jan 31: Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, MLA Amira Kadal, called on Governor N.N.Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Bukhari discussed with the Governor issues relating to continuing shortages of power, difficulties created by the very heavy snowfall and matters under discussion in the ongoing Assembly Session.
The Governor urged Bukhari to continue sustained efforts for advancing the State’s interest on all fronts.
Pramod Kumar Jain, Financial Commissioner, Agriculture Prod-uction Department (APD) also called on Governor.
Jain briefed the Governor about the initiatives taken by the department, in collaboration with the Farm University, to enable the farmers to undertake diverse activities on their farms and enhance their surpluses.
The Governor advised Jain to ensure that the extension wings of the department and the Farm University work most closely together to see the new seeds and the latest techniques are effectively made available to the cultivators and diversified farming units become a reality.
The Governor also advised Jain to devote attention to distribution of high yield vegetable seeds to the farmers to undertake vegetable framing and further add to their means. They discussed about new avenues to be explored for marketing agricultural products.
A delegation of International Volunteer Foundation led by its Chairman K.K. Sharma also met Governor.
The delegation briefed the Governor about the Swachch Vaishno Devi Abhiyan being undertaken by the Foundation under “Save the Trikuta Mountains” Awareness Campaign since 2014. Under this Campaign the volunteers are generating awareness among the locals and the pilgrims to make the holy town and the track to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine clean, green and free from any plastic material by 2019.
The delegation also appealed to the Governor to recognize National Youth Awardees of Jammu and Kashmir and make them an active part of the system to run social activities in the State.
It requested the Governor’s intervention in involving the Awardees in policy making relating to the youth; deputing them as State Youth Ambassadors to other states for national events; lifetime free transport passes for the Awardees as has been done in Haryana and other States, creation of State Youth Commission and District Youth and Block Resource Centres.
