MLA distributes free LPG connections, chairs RKS meet

JAMMU, Jan 14: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) RS Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat distributed free LPG connections under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY) among BPL families here at RS Pura.
While speaking, Dr Gagan Bhagat said that PMUY had benefited 3.7 crore households living under in the whole country till date. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India have planned 5 crore connections over the next three years, he added.
On the occasion, Dr Bhagat gave away free LPG connections to 90 women from BPL families residing in different villages in and around RS Pura Constituency.
“I will work to update Social Economic Caste Census (SECC) data, so as to provide due benefits to deserving female. Currently the identification of BPL families is done through 2011 SECC data. More than one crore people in the country have given up LPG subsidies and are buying cooking gas at market price now”, he added.
Dr Gagan said that Union Government is working towards setting up the country’s biggest refinery on the West Coast which will help generate nearly one lakh jobs.
He informed that Union Government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is focusing on welfare of petrol pump workers, taxi and auto drivers as well as women.
AD Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, TSO RS Pura, TSO Miran Sahib, Senior Sales Officers of Hindustan Petroleum, BJP Mahila Morcha State Secretary Monika Sharma, District President, Brijesh Rana, Mandal Pradhan Natharam, BJP Mahila Morcha District President Neelam Sharma, BJP office bearers from RS Pura, prominent persons and persons from various NGOs were present on the occasion.
Later, MLA chaired Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) meeting at the Community Health Centre at RS Pura, where he directed the staff to be more punctual. Several decisions were taken besides setting up canteen facility for the patients and attendants who visit the hospital from the border villages during wee hours.
He directed the BMO to engage safai karamcharies so as to maintain clean environment in the hospital premises.
