JAMMU, Jan 10: MLA from Kupwara Advocate Basher Ahmar Dar today alleged scandal in exchange of land for construction of approach road to stadium at Galizoo in Kupwara district and demanded investigation by State Vigilance Organization (SVO).
The MLA lodged protest in the Legislative Assembly when the Minister Incharge Sports, Sunil Sharma informed the House that in order to provide approach road and proper entry to the proposed stadium and make it in a regular shape, exchange of land measuring 14 kanals and 11 marlas has been authorized at Galizoo Kupwara.
“The administrative approval to the exchange of land has been conveyed on the basis of requisition/recommendation of field agencies to provide the proper approach road/connectivity to the stadium subject to various conditions”, the Minister said.
However, the MLA contested the reply of the Minister and said, “I will move privilege motion against the officer who has given this reply as he has tried to conceal the facts”, adding “the exchange of land is a big scandal and field officers have played key role in conferring undue benefits upon certain people”.
He demanded that case should be handed over to State Vigilance Organization for investigation and to unravel the facts behind the land exchange deal.
However, his demand was not conceded by the Government and Minister Incharge Sports simply said, “I will look into it although exchange is a known mode of mutation commonly known as ‘Tabadallah’ and procedure of mutation is well defined under the law subject to agreement between the parties”.
