They also presented separate memorandums highlighting their demands.
In a representation signed by BJP Mizoram State General Secretary, Vanlalhmuaka, attention is sought to be drawn to the construction of Lawngtlai Bypass Road Phase-I for which the second installment of Ministry of DoNER funds under NLCPR (Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources) has been requested. Similarly, following the submission of the Utilization Certificates, release of second installment of DoNER funds has also been sought for the construction of school building within LADC Phase-II and construction of Lai Students’ Hostel at the State capital city of Aizawl for which third financial installment is due.
In another representation made by Mizoram State Unit of BJP, attention has been drawn to the upcoming election of District Councils, including Mara Autonomous District Council and Siaha Autonomous District Council. The memorandum further states that the recent results of elections in five States has generated a lot of enthusiasm and optimism in the people of Mizoram and they look forward to vote in support of the Party in the upcoming Council elections which has 39 Executive Member Constitu-encies. They requested the Minister to plead their cause for liberal support from BJP Central High Command.
The delegation from Assam was led by the President of “All Assam Harijan Mazdoor Union”, Biswanath Basfor and it sought to draw the attention of the Minister to the discriminatory approach of the successive governments in the past, as a result of which, the backward classes had suffered from both injustice as well as lack of education. However, they stated, with the coming in of the new BJP government led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, a lot of hope and optimism is seen among the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes as well as the labour class and the lower strata of the society.
