Mitsubishi Electric factory automation lab setup at MIET

JAMMU, Apr 23: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited (MEI), a global manufacturer of Electrical &  Electronic equipment, have collaborated to setup the Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation (FA) Lab with the latest industry-standard equipment and software for factory automation by providing Programmable Logic Controllers and product related Training  Kit.
The Mitsubishi Electric FA Lab was inaugurated by Vikram Mattoo, General Manager, Factory Automation Centre, MEI, along with Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, Prof S K Sharma, Director Academics MIET, Manoj Gupta, Sr Manager, Factory Automation Centre, MEI and Shrikant Takale, Asst  Manager Factory Automation Centre, MEI.
The Mitsubishi Electric FA Lab is the first and exclusive industry-driven center of excellence in the State of J&K in the domain of industrial automation. The Lab is setup with a specific mandate to create awareness and develop industry-relevant skills on the latest equipment and software. Under this collaboration, MEI has supplied high end automation equipment with all accessories including high-end software for simulation/programming of the equipment to MIET. The training equipments include the Mitsubishi Electric iQ-R PLC based FA training-kit comprising HMI, VFD, Servo and FX PLC with HMI Training Kit iQ Platform software (engineering software) with simulation accessories.
Speaking on the occasion,  Vikram Mattoo, General Manager, Factory Automation Centre, MEI,  provided an overview of Mitsubishi Electric and its philosophy. He  spoke on length about MEI’s products and services, its CSR initiatives based on its corporate mission to further its ties with educational institutions in India. As part of the Mitsubishi Electric FA Lab, faculty and students of MIET shall be provided training, support for undertaking innovative projects and opportunity to participate in the Mitsubishi Electric Cup which is a National level Project based Automation competition, he added.
Prof  Ankur Gupta, Director MIET,  promised the students that MIET shall continue to setup industry-driven centers for each branch of engineering.
Later, the dignitaries inaugurated the Mitsubishi Electric FA lab with high-end MEI sponsored equipment and software to hone student skills on factory automation. MEI officials also outlined a plan for continued engagement and activities involving students and faculty. Later, a workshop for 250 Electronics and Electrical Engineering students shall be conducted by experts from MEI.
