JAMMU, Feb 14: Governm-ent today said that mistakes in the online data created for implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) are already being rectified and errors at the initial stage don’t mean that wrong ration cards will be issued and ineligible persons would be provided benefit.
An official spokesman said that it is for the first time that data pertaining to rationees is being digitized and since entries of about 16 lakh souls in respect of Jammu district have been made for the first time, there could be some errors.
“The authorities concerned have already set into motion the process to rectify the errors”, he said, adding “there would be strong scrutiny at the time of distribution of ration cards and proper slips would be generated at that time to be verified by the officials designated for the task”.
He further said that a person’s entry in the digitized database doesn’t mean that he is a beneficiary of National Food Security Act. For availing benefit of this scheme, one has to possess a duly signed hardcopy of ration card.
