Mirza, Basanti shine at 11th All India Police Badminton C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 26: Two personnel of Jammu & Kashmir Police have brought laurels to police as well as to State by giving excellent performance in highly rated All India Police Badminton Championship in which players from all the States participated.
Displaying exemplary talent Mirza Sultan (Security Wing) and Basanti Bhat (CID Wing) were heading to win the Gold in Mixed Double Category and were leading with a commanding Score of 11-4 when due to ill luck Mirza injured his knee and had to retire hurt and the pair had to settle for a Bronze Medal.
In another event, Basanti Bhat gave tough fight to the opponent in semifinal and lost with a difference of only two points in a three game thriller.
She also had to contend with another Bronze medal.
The Championship was held at IG Stadium New Delhi from October 22 and concluded today.
Union Minister for Sports, Rajvinder Singh Rathore was the chief guest on the Closing Ceremony of the tournament, which was organised by CRPF.
