SRINAGAR, Aug 13:  Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today said Government of India and Pakistan should resolve the Kashmir issue through talks.
While speaking at a seminar at Hurriyat Conference headquarters, Mirwaiz said that India should also understand the changing global discourse and must resolve the Kashmir issue through talks.
Mirwaiz said that there is change in the mind set of world leadership in resolving conflicts and war is no solution to any problem and the issues can be resolved through dialogue.
The Hurriyat leader said that Indian leadership must admit the fact that without solution of Kashmir issue, India cannot become a progressive country and its population would continue to remain poor.
The Hurriyat leader urged United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to play an effective role in resolving long pending Kashmir issue.
Mirwaiz said that New Delhi is always in denial mood of UN involvement in Kashmir.
Hurriyat leader said that Kishtwar communal clashes is the handiwork of mainstream parties for their electoral gains. “The communal riots are the preparations for the 2014 Indian Parliamentary elections. The National Conference, Congress, BJP and PDP are responsible for communal tension in Kishtwar,” he said.
Urging the pro freedom leadership not to give strike on Fridays, Mirwaiz said that the Fridays are giving only an opportunity to the people and the pro freedom leadership to meet as they remain most of the time under house arrest.
