Srinagar, Jan 16: In a shocking incident, a 10-month old baby-girl died today after she was allegedly strangulated to death by her father as he had an argument with his wife in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The baby-girl has been identified as Alima Jan, daughter of Javid Ahmad Wani, resident of Bamloora village of Ganderbal. The maternal uncle of the deceased baby alleged that her father was a drug addict and often used to demand money from his wife.
“He often used to play with this baby. There was an argument between the husband-wife about money during which he strangulated the baby and she died,” he alleged and sought tough punishment for the accused.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dr Rameez, told reporters that in the morning hours they received information about the death of a baby and they rushed to the spot where they arrested the accused.
“We have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated investigation. Once the post-mortem report or CT scan report is received, only then we can tell you how exactly she died and is her father really involved or not,” the top officer said.
