Ministers, MLAs working for their own loaves: NPP

Excelsior Correspondent
RAMNAGAR, Dec 26:  Expressing serious concern over growing unrest amongst the general masses in view of mis-governance, corruption and development inertia in the incumbent Government, NPP chairman  Harsh Dev Singh today said that the Govt’s failures had manifested themselves in the form of ever increasing protests and demonstrations as seen in various parts of the State.
Addressing public gatherings at Chowki, Garhi, Neeli and Ramian villages in Ramnagar today, Singh said that public resentment against the Govt was brewing with each passing day with varied sections of society expressing their dis-satisfaction against a highly un-responsive Govt at the helm. With various sections of employees, particularly the contractual and work charged employees, agitating in the roads for months and years and an apathetic Govt averse to their woes and concerns, the credibility of the ruling alliance was at the lowest ebb.
While projecting the pathetic condition of highly qualified contractual lecturers MG-NREGA, NHM, RET and Angarwari workers etc agitating on the roads in Jammu and elsewhere, Singh regretted that not a single Minister had even bothered to visit them to enquire about their plight. He said that contractual lecturers who comprised females in majority were on 24×7 relay hunger strike for more than ten months in sun and rain with none of the Ministers or senior bureaucrats bothering to take note of their persistent clamours. While the Ministers and MLAs had effected persistent hikes in their own salaries, perks and allowances, the employees’ class was being silenced in the name of financial constraints.
Regarding the issues of the Ramnagar constituency, Singh expressed concern over the scarcity of ration and other civil supplies, deficiency of teaching staff in rural area schools, dysfunctional irrigation canals, deplorable condition of roads  and poor power and water supply.
