Minister distributes certificates to migrant women trainees

JAMMU, May 2: Underlining role of skilled workforce in society, Minister of State for Tourism, Education, Technical Education, Culture, Horticulture, Floric-ulture and Parks, Priya Sethi said that the country has one of the largest workforce in the world and skilled younger generation can take the nation to new heights of development.
Addressing  a function at Jagti township near here today organized by All India Kashmiri Samaj and NGO partner Kashap Educational Economical & Charitable Society in collaboration with Apparel Sector Skill Council of India held in connection with certification programme for first batch of 60 displaced Pandit women from the township. The training was imparted in the tailoring and cutting under Skill Development Programme.
Ms Sethi said that it is a matter of pride that women of the State have come forward to join the skill development mission of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
MLC Surinder Ambardar, Vice- Chancellor, Central University, Jammu Prof. Ashok Aima, CEO, Apparel Sector Skill Council, Govt. Of India Dr. Roopak Vashistha, Moti Koul, vice president BJP, K K Khosa, president KP Sabha and vice president AIKS, Raj Nehru vice president Concentric, Aryan Ramesh a social activist and prominent members of the community were present on the occasion.
Underscoring on women empowerment in society, Priya said that the Government has launched number of schemes for empowering women and skill development can go a long way in ensuring financial independence to women. She said that the women should start their own ventures individually or in groups to exploit the skills learned during the program.
“The first step taken by the women of Jagti Migrant Township is a giant leap forward and we’ll ensure that industrial units and private organisations utilise their skill,” she added.
While speaking on the occasion, the MLC congratulated the organisers and hoped that more such events would be organised for imparting training to the women workforce. He said small beginnings can lead to big success and the initiative taken to train women is a step in the right direction for women empowerment.
In his address, Dr. Roopam informed that the level 4 training imparted to the participants entitles them an international certification of the level of 10+2 and also makes them eligible for level 5 and upward levels.
