JAMMU, Jan 30: Denying that the CAPD Department has stopped the supply of ration to any category of the people, Minister of Transport and Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Mohammed Ramzan today said that some categories of consumers were effected as the Central Government has stopped the additional quota of ration to all states including J&K after the passage of Food Security Bill recently.
Talking to Excelsior the Minister said that J&K like other states of India was getting additional quota of ration for nomadic Gujjars, some backward and remote districts like Rajouri, Poonch, Uri and Bandipora etc and the same was stopped by Union Government after passage of Food Security Bill with the result certain categories of consumers were effected.
However there was no impact of the decision on general ration card holders, he added.
The Minister said that State Government is taking up the issue with Union Government soon and we are hopeful that the Centre will consider the request of the State.
The Director CAPD Jammu G S Chib also denied that the department has denied the ration to the consumers. He said that in case any complaint about any dealer is brought before him, the department will take the erring dealer to task.
Meanwhile a delegation of some consumers from various parts of Jammu including Barnai, Sharda Colony and Anuradhapuram led by NC Minority Cell Working president M K Yogi and Dr Ramesh Bhat called on Choudhary Ramzan and expressed their concern over denial of ration to a large number of consumers by depot holders under APL category.
