Mini Secretariat Mendhar

It is now six years that work on the much touted Mini Secretariat in Mendhar remains abandoned and workers rendered unemployed. The functionaries work from rented houses. After raising some portion of the building for the mini Secretariat, the work was abandoned, Now villagers are using the abandoned structure in Mendhar for taking shelter and storing the hey for the cattle. Local fear militants can use the abandoned building as hideout or safe haven and this would be much more dangerous that dumping hey in it. The structure has been abandoned for want of funds, the malaise which is very common with almost all developmental plans that forces the contractors to suspend the project.
Theoretically speaking it was good idea to have a mini secretariat in Mendhar. That would have brought much comfort and relief to the people of a vast are teaching on the border with PoK when completed. After all distances are too long for the people especially during winter months when most of the area is clad with snow and movement becomes difficult. But alas our planners are more caring for publicity than for bringing comfort to the people. This project is just one victim among so many projects that have had no serious planning and execution. It was more to win publicity and draw the attention of the people to the so-called services of the elected representatives or others. The bane of Indian democratic process is that public men want more publicity for the tasks they have not done and no mention of hat they have done because that would expose their designs and machinations. That is why we say our democracy is still in embryonic stage and we have to go through innumerable tests before he can justifiably call our democracy a working and well directed democracy.
All the is notwithstanding, we still hope that authorities will not totally abandon the project and will move the cogs that will set resumption of work in motion, This is a project that should never be abandoned because it is gang to have an impact on coming generations.
