UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: Up in arms against no permission for Machail Mata Yatra, members of Udhampur Mini Bus Operators Union today protested  against Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Udhampur.
In protest, the mini bus operators did not ply their vehicles with the result that people had to face hardship due to no public transport in operation today.  Observing a Chaka Jam, the protesting operators also staged a dharna.
President of the Mini Bus Operator Union Udhampur, Darshan Kotwal alleged that despite repeated  requests to ARTO Udhampur for permission to carry Machail Yatra pilgrims,  the authorities did not pay any heed to their application. “We are left with no option other than to  register our strong protest through this peaceful manner,” he added.
Later,  Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Avny Lavasa assured the protesting operators to take up the issue with the concerned authorities after which the Mini Bus Operators Union resumed plying vehicles.
