Militants snatch rifles from cops

Srinagar,  May 26: Militants tonight snatched two rifles from cops guarding a political leader affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek Bachao Party in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Militants snatched the rifles-one AK-47 and one Insas-from the Personal Security Officers of Advocate Gowhar when he was visiting in-laws home in Dabruna village of the district.
Gowhar is a resident of Aasnoor Watoo village of adjoining Kulgam district and was in the past affiliated with National Conference, PDP and Congress.
Police said that they have learnt that from the residence of a protected person at Dabran Anantnag, two weapons have been taken away.
The PSOs were from security wing and Kulgam police respectively. The circumstances of the weapon disappearance are being investigated.
The protected person was apparently not present at his house. Police has registered a case and started investigation.
