SRINAGAR: Militants shot dead a former sarpanch belonging to the ruling PDP in the Shopian district while the deceased’s family members killed one of the assailants in a scuffle during the attack late evening today, police said.
“Three terrorists fired upon and killed ex-panch of PDP Mohammad Ramzan in Shopian,” a senior police official said.
He said the family members of the deceased entered into a scuffle with the assailants in which one of the militants was killed.
The slain militant has been identified as Showkat Ahmad, a local resident, the official said. (AGENCIES)
