Militants attack Army patrol

SRINAGAR, Mar 26: Militants today attacked an Army’s patrol party in Kachdoora village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A group of militants opened fire on the Army’s 34 RR near BSNL Tower in Kachdoora area of Shopian.

The soldiers retaliated. However, there were no casualties on either side. Massive searches were launched in the area to nab the militants but, no one was arrested.
Security forces today detained a youth during a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Bonikhan Mohalla of Hajin in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Irfan Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Bonikhan Mohalla, was detained for questioning after night-long CASO ended this morning.
Army’s 13 RR, Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 45 Battalion CRPF had launched the search operation after inputs about the presence of some militants.
Youth took to streets and pelted stones on the security forces while the cordon was being lifted around 8 am.
And in the meantime, security forces operation launched in Halmatpora forests of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district two days ago continued today.
A joint team of Army’s 41 RR and SOG yesterday afternoon launched searches in the upper reaches of the forest area – adjacent to Check Fathekhan of Haihama- which connects Gulgam and Awoora forest areas.
Army’s 5 Bihar and 4 Para have also launched a search operation in the peripheries of Haihama forests and its neighbouring forest areas including Gulgam and Awoora.
Massive search operations are going on in these areas to track down the two fleeing militants who were part of the group when it was intercepted at Check Fatehkhan of Halmatpora on March 20.
Five militants, three Army soldiers and two SOG personnel were killed in the operation that lasted for three-days.
