Militant killed in Handwara

Srinagar, Nov 11: A militant was killed in a brief shootout in Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
A group of militants moving in Handwara were intercepted by a security forces near Chattipora in Baramulla. The security forces challenged them and they opened fire from pistol and hurled a grenade towards security forces. The security forces fired back, triggering a brief gunfight in which a militant was killed.
Slain militant has been identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmad alias Abu Talha of Pakistan belonging to JeM outfit. The area has been cordoned off and searches are going on.

One pistol and two grenades were recovered from the encounter site.
Security forces today launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Dadsara village of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched the operation in Ratherpora area of Dadsara following “specific” inputs about the presence of militants. The security forces have blocked the entries to the area. However, no militant presence was noticed in the village.
