Militant arrested; IED defused

SRINAGAR, Nov 2: Security today arrested a militant of Al-Badr Mujahideen outfit in Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A joint naka was established at Chutipora area of Handwara today in the morning following the inputs about the movement of the militants.
Police said that during the naka, a vehicle was searched and one suspect was apprehended. During frisking, one Chinese pistol and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.

Police said that investigation has been immediately launched and the arrested person has been identified as Sajad Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Hamid Dar, a resident of Bungam, Rahmoo village in southern Pulwama district.
Police said that Sajad had joined Al-Badr militant outfit a month ago. A case has been registered and further investigations initiated in the matter.
Sajad, a first-year student of Bachelors in Lab Technician at College in New Delhi, had gone missing since October 3 and later his family lodged a missing report in the concerned police station.
Security forces today averted a major tragedy by timely detection of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants by roadside in Pulwama district.
Police said a patrol party of security forces detected an IED fitted in a water pipe. “It was planted by militants by the roadside at Nikas village in Pulwama district, police said.
The Bomb Disposal Squad was summoned and the IED was defused.
And the militant killed in Handwara last night was today buried in his native town of Sopore amid tight security.
Thousands of people attended his funeral prayers. He was identified as Naseer Ahmad Teli of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit.
Youth clashed with the security forces in Chinkipora in Sopore and the forces fired pellets after failing to disperse the angry stone pelters with tear smoke.
A shutdown was observed in the town to mourn Teli’s killing. Authorities had imposed restrictions and snapped internet to prevent people from holding protest against the militant’s killing.
Minor clashes amidst a complete shutdown have also been received from several parts of Budgam district, where two Lashkar militants were killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces.
Minor clashes were reported from Aripanthan against the killing of local militant Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat and his associate Mohammad Amin Mir of Drangbal Pampore in an encounter in Zagoo village on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, Ehtesham Bilal, 20, who was pursuing Bachelors in Technology, at Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and was thrashed by some students in the university campus on October 4 for looking like an Afghan resident has joined Islamic State.
On Friday evening, Ehtesham took everybody by surprise by releasing a photograph and an audio message announcing his joining of Islamic State.
“I am feeling blessed after joining Jundul Khilafah led (Ameerul Moommineen) by Abu Bakr Al-Bagdadi. I have taken a pledge that I will not rest till Islamic rule in Kashmir,” the student-turned militant said in six minute audio message.
His family yesterday protested in Srinagar and sought Government’s help in tracing their ward.
