Migrant Contractors warn agitation

JAMMU, Nov 4: Migrant Contractors Association in a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of Ashok Dhar discussed various issues pertaining to welfare of displaced contractors from the Valley.
The meeting, while taking stock of the recent developments which took place in the Engineering Wing of the Relief Organization, it said that due to the wrong polices of the authorities the families of migrant contractors have been made to suffer unnecessarily.
They said the migrant contractors are facing harassment through the hands of authorities of Engineering Wing which has failed to settle their problems.
The meeting warned that they will be forced to launch protest and take up the issue with all KP organizations in case their problems are not settled.
Moreover the Association decided to boycott the tendering process in future till the legitimate demands are settled.
The Association said that the contractors have raised loans from banks but due to highhandedness of the authorities they are left with no option but to surrender their registration cards before the Chief Minister.
The Association demanded immediate intervention of Chief Minister, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister in the matter.
