MIET organizes Research Awards

JAMMU, Mar 23: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) today organized the Research Awards 2018, felicitating faculty members who published high-quality research publications, filed patents and completed innovative projects.
Prof  Rajni Kant, Director College Development Council, University of Jammu,  was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof  S K Sharma,  Director Academics MIET and Member, Shrine Board,  along with Prof  G S Sambyal,  Professor of Computer Applications MIET and former Registrar, JU,  were also present.
Today’s event was the seventh edition of the Research Awards,  in which 38 faculty members were felicitated with certificates of achievement and financial incentives.
Prof  Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, presented the research report and informed that  during 2017, MIET faculty published 55 research papers, filed 2 patents, incubated one software development company from campus and developed two IT products which are in the process of being commercialized. Till date,  over 500 research papers have been published with more than 80 being indexed in reputed research indexing databases such as Thomson Reuters Web of Science and Scopus, besides 15 patents being filed in various domains at the Indian Patents and Trademarks Office. He also apprised the audience about   publication of the ninth issue of the International Journal of Next-Generation Computing published by MIET and indexed in Thomson Reuters Web of Science, making it the only engineering journal published from J&K to achieve this distinction. Under the MSME Technology Business Incubator at MIET, which is the only one in the private sector, six ideas were selected, groomed and recommended for funding to the central committee at Delhi.
Prof  Rajni Kant felt that the research focus of MIET is unique in the private sector in the State and reflected in the recent attainment of “A” grade in the assessment by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). He appreciated the concept of the Research Awards and hoped that the institute can further build on its research capabilities in the future.
He award certificates to  38 faculty members from different departments,  who had published quality papers in international journals and conferences during the preceding year.
Mekhla Sharma from Computer Science moderated the proceedings and  Ruksana Salathia, Quality Assurance Officer,  presented the vote of thanks.
