JAMMU, Dec 11: The International Conference on Next-Generation Computing and Information Systems (ICNGCIS) organized by Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) got underway today.
The conference is sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the conference proceedings are published by Conference Publishing Services (CPS) of the IEEE, USA.
In his welcome address, Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, reiterated the commitment of MIET to develop high-quality research capabilities in computer science and IT with international mentoring and collaboration.
Prof Manoj S Gaur, Director IIT, Jammu and Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairperson, MIER Group of Institutions, were the guests of honor at the conference. The conference received 97 paper submissions out of which 35 were selected as regular papers and 14 were selected as short papers for presentation.
Prof Sartaj Sahni, a globally recognized authority in computer science from the University of Florida, USA and a Fellow of the IEEE, ACM and AAAS, delivered the inaugural keynote address and spoke about time and energy efficient big data computing algorithms. The second keynote address was delivered by Prof Sitharama Iyengar from the Florida International University. He presented his thoughts on the impact of Artificial Intelligence and deep learning on the future of the Indian software industry.
Prof Sharma Chakravarthy from the University of Texas at Arlington delivered his keynote address on the evolution of information from data management to data science and the interesting challenges and solutions in the domain. The fourth keynote address was delivered by Prof Vijay Kumar, Curators Research Professor of Computer Science at University of Missouri-KansasCity, USA who spoke about research challenges and potential solutions in the Internet-of-Things.
In the final session of the day, Prof Torsten Braun from the University of Bern, Switzerland spoke about mobility prediction of users in mobile cellular networks to provide better quality-of-service for end-users and outlined the work done in this area by his team.
The final keynote address of the day was delivered by Prof Sanjay Madria, Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA who presented seminal work done on secure data sharing over the cloud with privilege management and query processing over encrypted data.
The day concluded with light classical performances by reputed artists of the region.
