JAMMU, Oct 30: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) organized its annual Alumni Meet “Connexions 2017”.
Over sixty alumni from the earlier batches of the institute from all branches attended the event. The highlight of the alumni meet was the presentation of the “Excellence in Action” awards to alumni who had achieved stellar success in their careers in diverse domains. This was the eighth alumni meet at Jammu, while similar meets were recently organized at Bengaluru and in the USA where a sizeable number of alumni work in some of the top global corporates.
The awards were presented by Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, Prof P N Sharma, Head MIET School of Management and Prof B C Sharma, Dean Placement and Trainings. The awardees included:  Rohit Bhatia, CEO Intellivate Technologies,  I J S Modi, MD Jammu Nursing College (Entrepr-eneurship Category), Major Sumit Sharma (Excellence in Armed Forces),  Varun Jandial, SDPO East J&K Police (Excellence in Government Sector),  Arjun Gandotra,  International Roller-skater having donned India colors eleven times and his brother  Tarun Gandotra, International Rollerksater with 5 international world cups to his credit (Excell-ence in Sports),  Chetan Pratap Singh, HR Head WebVirtue Technology,  Ashwani Narula, Testing Head, TestingXperts and  Deepak Kohli, Senior Manager, Bank of Baroda (Excellence in Corporate Sector).
Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, apprised the alumni of the significant professional achievements at MIET since the last year. He further shared the new initiatives being planned by MIET to create greater value for its students and alumni. He outlined the strategic plan for the institution which included alumni engagement and contribution as a key element. He announced the continuation of the Alumni Mentoring Program wherein a senior alumnus of MIET coaches 2 current students with a view to help them enhance their performance and achievement levels.
Finally, the alumni were asked to make use of the alumni management system which has been developed in-house by the Center for Software Development at MIET. The system provides a global geo-map of location of MIET alumni through real-time integration with Linkedin and allows users to locate batchmates by batch, course, company, location etc.
