MIET Alumni USA Chapter launched

JAMMU, July 12: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) inaugurated its USA Alumni Chapter during a virtual meet involving 20 founding members of the chapter.
MIET has over 100 alumni working in top multi-nationals in the United States, include Google, Horton Works, Sprint, IBM, Dell-EMC, HCL among others. Prof. SK Sharma, Director Academics MIET, initiated the virtual meet from Baltimore, USA in the presence of . Manu Gupta, the nominated president of the MIET Alumni USA Chapter. Prof Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET, joined the meeting over video-conferencing from Jammu.
Prof Ankur described the launch of the MIET Alumni USA Chapter as historic and matter of great pride for MIET.
All the 20 founding members formally inaugurated the “MIET Alumni Association – USA Chapter” with a stated vision to create a strong professional and personal network of MIETians in the USA and foster greater linkage with their alma mater through special initiatives to contribute in its sustained growth.
Manu Gupta, a 1999-2004 batch alumnus from Electronics and Communication Department, MIET, was nominated as the president of the Chapter. He is currently working as Senior Digital Consultant in Virginia State for Sprint, USA, which is one of the large telecom companies. He was asked to give a formal structure to the established chapter as a part of the already registered MIET Alumni Association, “Connexions”.
Other office bearers of the MIET Alumni USA Chapter include Nazai Wani (1999-2004 batch), Richa Mahajan, Nidhi Sharma, Masroor Dhar, Awais Wani and Ruchika Gupta, all from 2001-2005 batch, Saajan Shridhar (2010-14 batch) and Nitin Bhandari (2012-16 batch).
In the first phase, the chapter has decided to launch the “Alumni Mentoring Program” under which each alumnus from the chapter will undertake mentoring for two current students from MIET with a view to help them prepare for high quality jobs and international education from top universities. Also, a monthly Skype Session has been planned to help connect the MIET Alumni to the current students for knowledge sharing sessions.
